I Have No Words
There was a recent article posted concerning one way to save some money for our education budget. This super cool plan even made it all the way to the Washington Post. What is this amazing plan? The plan that will help put a dent into our almost $1 billion deficit? Round up non-English speaking students and turn them over to ICE…
I can’t even….I have no words…
With every bone in my body, I believe that a free education is a universal right for every human on the planet. No matter religion, ethnicity, gender, or any other segregating factor. When I read about state policy creators with these kinds of thoughts, I get sick to my stomach. What in the world has our world come to?
One of the things that I love about humans is diversity. How else do we grow as a society? I don’t want to live someplace where everybody thinks, acts, talks, walks, and teaches exactly like I do. Where is the fun in that?
I need to be challenged. There are things I need to reconsider. There are beliefs that I need constantly be challenged on, for my own sake. Sitting in an echo chamber full of people who think exactly like me does not accomplish any of this.
And to go along with this terrible idea, we also had a state senator who said that rape is the will of God. This story also made the Washington Post. Are you kidding me??? I have two beautiful daughters, I cannot imagine the rage I would have if this happened to them. If this is terrible act is the will of God, where do we draw the line?
I grow increasingly frustrated with my state policy creators. I am so damn frustrated by the complete lack of humanity that is on public display by some of them.
Our education system is teetering on the brink. Rural hospitals are being forced into the most difficult decisions. Our infrastructure is falling apart around us. Extreme funding issues for our state highway patrol troops/police and fire departments. Rome is burning…
Rant over.
