I think it is vital to ask them to tell you about themselves immediately. This is what I do on the first day of school. One of the things I ask is what do they want me to know that might be bothering them. Gotta read and follow up for it to be complete #oklaed https://t.co/6KUTGA5kcS

A4) In Middle School itβs important for teachers to attend sporting events, musicals, concerts and let the students know it was enjoyed. I believe thatβs a way to build a safe relationship. #oklaed

Q5-I love parent volunteers. Gives them a chance to see how I do what I do. Gives me a chance to know them on a more personal basis. #oklaed

#oklaed A5 When a P enrolls a student and relates a concern we try to connect them with available resources immediately. Counseling, systems of care, etc. Builds trust and a sense that the school really cares.

A7: My support system. I think open, honest conversations about healthy relationships and relying on those you can trust to help you overcome difficult situations is important to share with Ss. https://t.co/VuuDLOcGaM
— Shelly Ellis (@shellyellis_715) April 16, 2018
A7 It is much easier to work with Ss suffering in areas that you personally understand. Divorce and absent parent, etc may be areas I can relate to, but others take more empathy and assistance because of lack of first hand knowledge #oklaed
— Jason Bengs (@jasonbengs) April 16, 2018
A7- I think the adversity Iβve faced in my life has made me resilient. Plus, Iβm stubborn as all get out and refuse to quit. I think my Ss see that. Unfortunately (or not)for them, I will not give up on them and will not stop fighting for them. There is too much at stake. #OklaEd

A8: I have very high expectations, and let's face it AP Bio is HARD. But when WE fail, we try again, we redo what we can and we face it together. Failer leads to strength #oklaed

Boomsauce tweet(s) of the night:
Scott:
A4 – I start my yr by refusing to ask former Ts about Ss. I want them to have a blank slate in my classroom. Next, I learn their stories (writing activity), share my story, and then I stay consistent. I own up to mistakes when necessary. #OklaEd
